DESCRIPTION:Autoimmune diseases are a group of disorders of unknown cause i
 n which the immune system becomes dysregulated and attacks the body's own 
 organs. More than 110 autoimmune diseases are currently known\, and some e
 pidemiological studies estimate that over 10% of the population is affecte
 d by an autoimmune disease. In approximately one-third of these conditions
 \, the attack is systemic and affects the entire body\, giving rise to wha
 t are known as systemic autoimmune diseases. These conditions are characte
 rized by the simultaneous or successive involvement of most organs and sys
 tems and by the presence of various autoantibodies as biological markers.\
