The teaching objective of the Pathological Anatomy Service of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona is to train professionals interested in the various fields and competencies of the specialty with the best and most up-to-date training.
Undergraduate and postgraduate
The Service participates in the theoretical, practical and organizational aspects of the teaching of the Degree in Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Barcelona, as well as the teaching of Medicine at the University of Vic. Professionals participate as teachers in various postgraduate courses at the University of Barcelona.
The Service trains resident inpatients (MIR) in the specialty of:
and other specialties. MIRs are directly involved in the diagnostic process and have the opportunity to participate in research projects, national and international conferences and to publish articles in order to carry out their doctoral theses.
Since 1994 the Service has been offering two annual MIR places. All physicians actively participate in the training of MIRs and oversee their activity during rotations. Residents follow a training plan that allows them to make the full diagnostic assessment of biopsies, cytologies and autopsies. They also learn to integrate the most up-to-date molecular and genetic techniques into their diagnoses.
The Service organizes continuing education courses and seminars accredited by the Catalan Council for Continuing Education. It also organizes specific courses for residents, technicians and doctors, through the Aula Clínic.
Training of FP2 technicians
Each year the Service hosts 9-12 technicians from different schools for the training of higher FP2 degrees in Pathological Anatomy and Cytodiagnosis and Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory. The students are distributed by the different organizations of the Service and receive the training of the staff technicians.
