Heat, touch and pain: how do our neurons detect them?

Auditorium. Civic Center Golferichs. Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 491, 08015 Barcelona.

Led by Xavier Gasull, Professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona, and researcher at IDIBAPS. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms involved in the perception of painful stimuli and the changes that occur in neurons during chronic or inflammatory pain.

The talk describes the main mechanisms used by our sensory neurons to detect different types of stimuli (touch, temperature, pain…), the sensations that are generated in our brain, and what happens when these mechanisms do not work or malfunction (chronic pain, altered perception…).

Talk in Catalan. Free entry.
