March 2025 – May 2025
In recent months, we have been working on the final preparations for the conclusion of the project.
First, the final project meeting was held with the participation of all collaborators involved, as well as other experts from the scientific community. A representative from the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) also attended the meeting. During the session, the results obtained over the four-year duration of the project were presented. Final conclusions were shared across the various scientific areas addressed, including analyses of the germline and somatic genome, transcriptome, microbiome, metabolome, and the integration of all these datasets. The meeting provided a comprehensive overview of the project and facilitated a deeper understanding of the findings achieved.
Additionally, the final results of the project were presented at the annual meeting of the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG), held in Milano, which is regarded as the most prominent genetics conference in Europe. This presentation offered a valuable opportunity to share the main findings with leading international experts and to engage in fruitful scientific discussions with other research groups specializing in colorectal cancer.
In the coming months, we will continue working on the project and the data analysis. The publication of scientific articles on the results of the analysis of the microbiome and the metabolome of the patients is expected shortly, in which the relevant findings in these approaches will be explained. Subsequently, the results of the pairing of the germline and RNA-seq data, as well as the germline-somatic relationship, will also be translated into scientific articles. Finally, the writing of an article will also be carried out reporting the relevant results of the integration of all omics data.
