The Fundació de Recerca Clínic Barcelona-Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) is looking for outstanding researchers in Translational Medicine to prepare a joint application to the new call by the “Institució Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avançats” (ICREA), which is open to attract talented researchers in the areas of Social & Behavioural Sciences, Humanities and Life & Medical Sciences to Catalan research institutions; https://www.icrea.cat/en/calls.
We encourage Expressions of Interest (EoI) from recognised clinician-scientists/scientists working in Life & Medical Sciences, with a specific focus on Translational Medicine and potential links and future collaborations with other research groups, areas and multidisciplinary programmes at IDIBAPS; https://www.clinicbarcelona.org/en/idibaps/areas-and-programs.
Successful candidates will be highly accomplished scientists with an MDPhD or PhD degree, leadership experience in Translational Medicine, strong drive, institutional vision, ability for collaborative and interdisciplinary research, and international scientific recognition.
The institute commits to incorporate the successful candidate to the ICREA call as a Group Leader in the IDIBAPS faculty, offering a start-up package, equipped space, access to Core Facilities and computational resources, and professional administrative support.
ICREA senior call
ICREA offers permanent positions in the Catalan research system for senior researchers. The selected researchers are offered a position as ICREA Research Professors (equivalent to tenure) and become ICREA employees. ICREA researchers go through an evaluation process (promotion) at regular intervals throughout their entire career.
The 2024 call opened on the second half of January 2024 for the areas of Social & Behavioural Sciences, Humanities and Life & Medical Sciences and will close on the first half of March 2024.
IDIBAPS
At the core of the IDIBAPS mission is to foster excellent translational research to tackle the most common diseases in our society. This mission is supported and promoted by multidisciplinary research groups, combining fundamental and translational research approaches with clinical studies, to transform knowledge into cure for patients. This complex and long journey is promoted by multiple institutional incentives and specific programmes to ensure building bridges between the bench and the bed side. IDIBAPS is located in the prestigious Campus Clínic, with strong links with the Clínic Barcelona hospital and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona.
The incorporation of the new Group Leader on Translational Medicine will be a strategic asset to further strengthen translational research, leveraging on the opportunities offered by new technologies, multiple generated data and the latest advances in biomedicine, to bring about impact in the health of our society.
