The Fundación Conchita Rábago (FCR) has promoted biomedical training and outreach activities for decades in memory of Professor Carlos Jiménez Díaz. The Jiménez Díaz Commemorative Lecture, established in 1969, annually recognizes an outstanding international figure in medicine or biomedical research, who delivers a keynote lecture of a scientific and educational nature. This 2026, Josep Dalmau will be responsible for delivering the 57th commemorative lecture.
The award ceremony will take place on May 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., as part of an open and free event that can be attended in person in Madrid (Hospital Universitario Fundación Jiménez Díaz, Av. Reyes Católicos 2) or followed online with prior registration here. The event will begin with the symposium “Loss of self-tolerance, the brain as a target,” featuring presentations by Cristina Serrano del Castillo, Rosario López Pedrera, Francesc Graus Ribas and Frank Leypoldt, and moderated by Olga Sánchez Pernaute and Isaura de Rábago Juan-Aracil.
This will be followed by Dalmau’s Jiménez Díaz Commemorative Lecture, titled “Autoimmune encephalitis: What we have learned within and beyond neurology”. The event will conclude with the presentation of the medal and the awarding of the diploma.
