On Wednesday, 14 May 2025, IDIBAPS hosted the final meeting of the project “Colorectal cancer in adolescents and young adults: identification of germline predisposition and somatic insults through comprehensive multi-omic characterization”, funded by the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).
The project was awarded to the research group “Genetic predisposition to gastrointestinal cancer,” led by Sergi Castellví-Bel. It began in December 2021 and will conclude in August 2025.
During the meeting, the results obtained to date from the different approaches used to study the genome, microbiome, and metabolome were presented, and new analysis strategies were proposed. Attendees included members of the research group that developed the project, as well as collaborators such as José Perea (IBSAL), Anna Esteve-Codina (CNAG), Marcos Díaz-Gay (CNIO), Olfat Khannous (BSC/IRB), Salvador Fernández (Eurecat), Miquel Mayor (BSC), and Cristina Bodas, representative of the AECC.
