About me

Dr. Chamorro is a vascular neurologist, Professor of Neurology at the University of Barcelona, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Iowa. He has served as Vice President of the European Stroke Organization (ESO). He founded and directs the Functional Stroke Unit at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona. He has led key clinical trials that have been incorporated into the International Therapeutic Guidelines for Stroke. He is the founder of FreeOx Biotech, a spin off of the Hospital Clínic dedicated to the development of redox based therapies for stroke. He has been a pioneer in identifying the importance of enhancing cerebral microcirculatory perfusion to improve the net clinical benefits of mechanical thrombectomy.
