The Pulmonology Department forms part of the Clínic Respiratory Institute (ICR) at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. It is a national and international reference centre for its quality of care, teaching and research in the field of respiratory disease.
The Department has highly specialized care facilities and programmes that have placed it at the forefront in the field of infectious respiratory diseases, respiratory failure, airway diseases (COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis), sleep-related breathing disorders, pulmonary hypertension, diffuse interstitial lung diseases, and lung cancer.
The Department has an Intensive and Intermediate Respiratory Care Unit, dedicated exclusively to the care of critically ill respiratory patents, a hospital ward, and several complementary examination rooms for respiratory endoscopy and interventional pulmonology, sleep-related breathing disorders and pulmonary haemodynamics.
