What is World Diabetes Day?

It is the most comprehensive diabetes information campaign in the world. Its objective is to give everyone the causes, the symptoms, the complications associated with the disease, as well as the strategies for its prevention. Currently, around the world, there are 425 million people with diabetes, and estimates show that by 2045 there will be 629 million. Chronic complications associated with the disease can reduce the quality of life of the people affected.

World Diabetes Day is celebrated on November 14 in memory of the researcher Frederick Banting, who, together with Charles Best, discovered insulin in 1921.
