Hands‑on workshops, educational talks, scientific demonstrations, family activities, physical activity sessions and guided tours filled the surroundings of Casanova Street, the Duran i Reynals Gardens and the Faculty of Medicine, turning the area into a large space for outreach and participation.
“Clínic Obert reflects our commitment as a public service: going out into the streets to explain what we do, how we do it and why we do it. It is a day to share knowledge, promote prevention and strengthen the bond between professionals and the public,” explains Antoni Castells, Medical Director of Hospital Clínic Barcelona.
A health campus open to the city
Clínic Obert is a joint initiative of Hospital Clínic Barcelona, IDIBAPS, ISGlobal, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona, the CAPSBE primary care centres and the Fundació Món Clínic, aimed at bringing the campus’s healthcare, research and teaching activity closer to the public in a clear, accessible and participatory way.
Prevention, wellbeing and scientific outreach
Throughout the day, more than 120 activities were held: 62 health stands in the street, 24 educational talks, 16 guided tours, science and health workshops for children and activities focused on promoting healthy lifestyles.
The Wellbeing Area offered sessions of qigong, yoga, tai chi, pilates and functional training, with high public participation throughout the day.
Educational talks were also held on current health topics such as cancer prevention, respiratory health, mental health, cardiovascular health and emergencies related to substance use, with open dialogue spaces for the public.
Culture and gastronomy in the service of health
The day was completed with a cultural and gastronomic programme designed for all audiences. The music stage hosted performances by El Pony Menut, La Jim, Miqui Puig, the Clínic Choir, as well as swing, magic and stand‑up comedy performances.
The live healthy cooking area featured Ada Parellada, Arnau París, Carlota Claver and Maria Nicolau, who shared recipes and reflections on food and health in an educational and participatory format.
Clínic Obert, live on Catalunya Ràdio
During the morning, the programme El Suplement on Catalunya Ràdio, hosted by Roger Escapa, was broadcast live from the Clínic Obert venue. The programme included a conversation with Josep M. Campistol, CEO of Hospital Clínic; Joan Guàrdia, Rector of the University of Barcelona; and Susana Puig, Director of IDIBAPS, focusing on the New ClínicUB Health Campus project and its impact on healthcare, research, education and the city. The programme also highlighted several activities led by Campus professionals.
