Robert Rodríguez Roisin, a top international figure in respiratory diseases, died last Wednesday, 26 February.
Known to many as ‘Roro’, Rodríguez Roisin dedicated his life to research, teaching and patient care and made exceptional contributions to knowledge about and the treatment of respiratory pathologies. He pioneered in many areas, particularly in the pathophysiology of the exchange of pulmonary gases. He was the head of Hospital Clínic Barcelona’s Pneumology Service for many years and a prominent member of various scientific societies, including the European Respiratory Society, where he served as president.
