Scientists discover six new genes involved in hereditary colon cancer

Genetic and environmental factors play an important role in the susceptibility of developing colon cancer (CRC). In an article published in the journal  Genetics in Medicine scientists have identified six genes that had not been associated with this type of cancer before. The study has been conducted by Dr. Sergi Castellví-Bel, member of the team Gastrointestinal and Pancreatic Oncology at IDIBAPS. Predoctoral researcher Clara Esteban-Jurado is the first author of the work.
