The Functional Genomics Core Facility has recently expanded its abilities by incorporating Mission Bio’s Tapestri® technology, a pioneering system for conducting genetic analysis at the single-cell level. The technology was brought on board thanks to the aid that Armando López-Guillermo, the head of the Lymphoid neoplasms research group, obtained via the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and University’s FORTALECE programme.
Users of the Tapestri® system can simultaneously detect genetic variants, and in some cases, protein markers at the single-cell level. This makes it a key tool for studies where cellular heterogeneity plays a significant role, such as cancer, haematological diseases, immunology and personalised medicine. With this new technology, users can access single-cell genetic analyses of great sensitivity and specificity, where they can detect somatic mutations in complex cell populations and conduct studies on clonality and tumour evolution.
