The Hospital Clínic has started to administer the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to its professionals

The aim is to vaccinate as many professionals as possible as quickly as possible.

The COVID-19 vaccines provide a highly effective immune response to coronavirus infection.

The Hospital Clínic started to administer the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to its professionals this week. The vaccination point at the Hospital Clínic is located in the Board Room of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona. The vaccination of the Hospital Clínic’s professionals is being coordinated through the Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology Service and by the Personnel Management.

The COVID-19 vaccines provide a highly effective immune response to coronavirus infection. Vaccination against COVID-19 aims to protect the entire population against the virus to avoid severe cases of the disease, long COVID, hospital and ICU admissions, and deaths. This third dose is a further boost for our immune status, which can decline over time in some respects.

The booster dose for professionals at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona will always be an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna), regardless of which vaccine was received in the primary vaccination series. In other words, if we received Pfizer initially, we can receive Moderna as the booster and vice versa.
