The Aurora®, the new spectrum cytometer from CYTEK®, is equipped with 5 UV lasers (violet, blue, yellow, green and red) and uses full spectrum technology, which means novelty flexibility for the institution’s scientists. This spectrum cytometer enables the use of a broad range of new fluorochrome combinations without having to reconfigure the system for each application. It also has an automatic reader, for tube racks and well plates alike. The state-of-the-art optics and low-noise electronics provide excellent sensitivity and resolution. Thanks to this it is possible to resolve cell populations with a low level of biomarkers, cells with high autofluorescence, or alternatively microparticles, as well as the more habitual applications in conventional cytometry.
Full spectrum flow cytometry enables us to simultaneously use fluorochromes that in conventional cytometry it is not possible to combine because of the excitation and emission wavelengths being in too close proximity. In other words, it provides us with a new and alternative way of measuring fluorescence. Unlike conventional flow cytometry, which reads the light spectrum in a limited way, this new addition to the platform measures the spectral imprint emitted by each of the 5 lasers.
