Research on Decreased Foetal Movement at the Clínic
Research in this field is mostly carried out at the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) through the Foetal and Perinatal Medicine group.
The main line of research at the Hospital Clínic is the study of foetal circulation parameters to find out which cases of decreased movement are due to placental insufficiency and which are simply physiological.
The Maternal-Foetal Medicine Service is part of the faculty of the International Stillbirth Alliance, whose mission is to reduce perinatal death. One of the strategic lines of this group is the management of cases with decreased foetal movements. The group also collaborates with Umamanita, an association of parents who have experienced a perinatal death, which is part of the International Stillbirth Alliance and promotes information to parents about the importance of decreased foetal movement.
