Diagnosis of Umbilical Hernia

An umbilical hernia is diagnosed by means of a physical examination.

Imaging tests (ultrasound or CT) may be also necessary to make a diagnosis in doubtful cases, which are more common in patients with obesity or small hernias, or to detect complications.
