The Electroconvulsive Therapy at the Clínic

The Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) programme of the Psychiatry and Psychology Department at the Hospital Clínic is one of the leading ones nationwide; from a healthcare, teaching and research perspective.

This programme provides for a population of 570,000 in part of the city of Barcelona (Esquerra) and performs an average of 1,200 ECT sessions per year. In 2024, a total of 1,008 ECT sessions were administered to 93 patients in this geographic area.
