Biomarkers of lung damage in patients who have survived severe COVID-19 have been identified

  •  SARS-CoV-2-induced lung injury can produce epithelial and endothelial lung damage half a year after hospital discharge, especially in patients older than 60 years who required mechanical ventilation. However, more studies are needed to determine whether this damage is temporary or permanent.
  • This is the first study to look at biomarkers of lung damage in patients half a year after discharge from COVID-19.
