The Strategic Plan was presented by Susana Puig, director of IDIBAPS; Michela Bertero, director of Strategy; and David Badia, manager. It was held in a hybrid format from the Esteve auditorium of the CEK and had a wide participation of research, technical and management staff.
During the event, they provided an overview of the process for preparing the Plan, developed through a wide participatory exercise. More than a hundred people contributed through working groups, surveys, co-creation sessions and meetings with external agents, including institutions of the Campus Clínic, international expert voices, and patient representatives. The result is a shared strategy that reaffirms IDIBAPS's commitment to excellent biomedical research, innovation and impact on people's health.
The Plan is structured around eight strategic pillars that define the priorities and actions for the 2025–2028 period:
- Carry out excellent translational research for human health: promoting high-quality translational and multidisciplinary research by studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms of diseases, fostering innovative diagnostic and treatment methods, focusing on prevention, and leveraging the full power of artificial intelligence for research.
- Foster a positive research culture: promoting equality and diversity, open science, best practices, the CoARA principles, sustainability, and active participation.
- Empower talent: attracting and retaining talent, strengthening programs for young researchers and clinicians, and developing new training and professional development initiatives.
- Drive innovation: through initiatives that promote it among research staff, improving processes, and expanding collaborations with industry, in synergy with other institutions on the Campus Clínic.
- Upgrade and advance technology: focusing on upgrading scientific platforms and laboratories, biosafety, artificial intelligence, and quality.
- Promote cooperation: strengthen collaboration within the Campus Clínic and the CERCA ecosystem, establishing new national and international partnerships.
- Engage and involve society: reinforce outreach activities, create new participatory formats, and promote a renewed communication and brand strategy.
- Streamline management: implement an integrated management system focused on research staff and digital transformation.
The session included an open forum for questions, proposals, and reflections, allowing the community to share concerns and suggestions regarding the implementation of the Plan and its future challenges.
With this new Strategic Plan, IDIBAPS reaffirms its commitment to remain an internationally recognized research center, dedicated to generating cutting-edge knowledge and improving people's health.
