This initiative, that wants to promote the use of the Catalan language within the scientific community, especially among non-Catalan speakers, is co-organised by IDIBAPS, the Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD), the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) and the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG). It is funded by the Department of Research and Universities (grants for CERCA research centres in Catalonia for initiatives promoting the use of Catalan in the research field).
There were eight monologues. To help prepare them, participants had previously received training in stage communication and linguistic support in Catalan. The monologues were:
- Preventing obesity, by Giorgia Sebastiani and Elena Plaza, from the IDIBAPS Fetal and perinatal medicine research group
- Molecule detectives, by Jesús Daniel Gómez Zepeda, from the IDIBAPS Cell biology, intracellular compartments and cancer research group
- Maria Aurora, by María Sánchez Jiménez, from IRSJD
- Making science reproducible in the age of distrust, by Toni Hermoso Pulido, from CRG
- A heart against the clock, by Jean-Baptiste Guichard, from the IDIBAPS Biopathology and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias research group, and Ada Doltra, from the IDIBAPS Cardiac imaging research group
- Partying with T lymphocytes, by David Bartolomé Català, from IBEC
- The invisible thread, by Margalida Puigrós Serra, from the IIBB-CSIC-IDIBAPS Neurobiology research group
- Invisible messaging will change our lives, by Lluis Enjuanes Ruiz, from IRSJD
Three prizes were awarded: best monologue, best monologue by a non-Catalan speaker, and audience award. The winners were:
- Best monologue: Partying with T lymphocytes, by David Bartolomé Català, from IBEC
- Best monologue by a non-Catalan speaker: Maria Aurora, by María Sánchez Jiménez, from IRSJD
