In the words of Dr Josep M. Campistol, director general, 2024 was “a year of consolidation for major transformative projects”, which position the Clínic as a healthcare benchmark at national and international levels.
Among the most notable achievements, it is worth highlighting the definitive impetus given to the Nou Clínic project. This new, innovative and inclusive campus will address the healthcare needs of the 21st century, with a commitment to sustainability, the pursuit of excellence and person-centred care. 2024 was also a year of remarkable medical and scientific advances. From the birth of a baby by the second woman to undergo a uterus transplant in Spain, and record numbers of transplants, to pioneering robotic heart surgery and the expansion of the CAR-T programme, the Clínic has once again demonstrated that it is at the forefront of biomedical innovation in Spain and Europe. At the same time, we continued to work towards achieving a close-knit, sustainable, pioneering and intelligent Clínic, within the framework of NUCLI 2025. Like the previous Strategic Plan, it is characterized by being participatory and open to everyone in the organization.
In terms of healthcare, the Clínic admitted 51,797 patients, handled 642,596 outpatient visits, and treated 167,151 emergencies, maintaining its position as a centre of maximum complexity dedicated to serving the public.
In 2024, the Clínic was ranked among the 60 best hospitals in the world, and reinforced its commitments to the neighbourhood and its patients with the first edition of the Open Clínic. This was a major recreational and festive event involving all the organizations on the Campus Clínic and aimed at promoting healthy habits.
