The Neurology Deparment was created in 1972 and is part of the Clínic Institute of Neuroscience. The Neurology Deparment offers quality and efficient healthcare focused on people with neurological diseases. It also has teaching and research programs that make it a definitive healtcare resource at the national and international level.
The Neurology Department admits around 1,150 patients per year; it carries out more than 40,000 outpatient visits (between the outpatient clinic and primary neurological care); 8,000 day hospital sessions; 16,000 cognitive or physical intervention sessions for patients with neurodegenerative diseases; 10,500 functional tests (electromyogram (EMG), electroencephalogram (EEG), evoked potentials, polysomnographies, etc.); 125 complex video-electroencephalogram assessments; 110 functional surgeries for patients with epilepsy or movement disorders; and 1,800 hospital consultations.
The Neurology Deparment of the Hospital Clínic appears repeatedly in various rankings published by independent entities as one of the best Neurology deparment in Spain.
