With a staff of around 8,000 professionals, Hospital Clínic Barcelona is one of Spain’s leading medical care centres and the top institution in scientific output.
It is a university hospital that, since its inauguration in 1906, has developed in parallel with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona. We offer optimal conditions for resident training in all areas.

In total, more than 400 residents are trained every year. At the end of the residency, you can apply for one of the 17 Clínic Research Contracts that are offered annually, allowing you to devote two post-residency years to research. Below you can see the positions offered this year for each of the 50 specialties for which we are accredited:

Hospital Clínic is located in the centre of Barcelona, next to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona. It is very well connected by all means of transport.
- What resources are available to learn Catalan during residency?

Hospital Clínic takes part in a linguistic welcome programme that offers Catalan language courses and cultural activities, designed to support residents’ linguistic and communicative integration in Catalonia. The programme aims to help residents communicate confidently with patients and the healthcare team from day one.
- What opportunities does the hospital offer after residency?

Hospital Clínic offers 17 two-year post-residency research contracts to encourage residents to complete their doctoral thesis.
- Is residents’ participation in congresses and publications encouraged?

Yes, we actively promote participation in scientific activities. By the end of their residency, 65% of residents have taken part in at least three scientific communications at congresses, and 70% have been authors on at least one indexed scientific publication.
