Reseach - Unit of Vascular Access

The research activity of the Vascular Access Unit at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona is carried out through the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS), which is part of the group:

The main lines of research led by the Unit are the following:

1. Application of new antiseptic solutions in the prevention of catheter-related bacteraemia (CRB)
2. New surgical and endovascular therapeutic approaches in the management of vascular access complications.
3. Relationship between haemodialysis dose reduction and vascular access dysfunction
4. Use of different automated methods for vascular access flow measurement
5. Application of Doppler ultrasound for the control of vascular access maturation.
6. Active isometric exercise programmes to promote the development of the vascular access.
