Research - Unit of Presentation of the Heart Failure

Research at the Heart Failure Unit is carried out through the Respiratory, Cardiovascular and Renal Pathobiology and Bioengineering Area of the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS).

The Heart Failure Unit at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona focuses on the following lines of research:

  • Cardiorenal interaction and refractory congestion
  • Technology applied to heart failure: monitoring and treatment devices
  • Right-sided heart failure: pulmonary hypertension and treatment of tricuspid regurgitation
  • Cardiomyopathies
  • Heart transplantation: cardiac prehabilitation, primary graft dysfunction, long-term complications

The lines of research of the Heart Failure Unit of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona are as follows:

  • Physiopathological mechanisms of dilated myocardiopathy
  • Pulmonary hypertension secondary to left heart disease: pathophysiology and treatment.
  • Vascular disease of the patient in the heart transplant.
