Teaching and training - Unit of Presentation of the Heart Failure
The Heart Failure Unit at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona leads several teaching and training initiatives. The activities are aimed at training university students, resident physicians, specialist professionals, and patients.
Undergraduate Degrees
Training in Heart Failure within the Cardiovascular System Diseases course: 4th year of the Medical Degree at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona.
Training in Heart Failure as part of the Medical Degree Rotation, 6th year.
Medical Residents (MIR)
Cardiology residents at the Hospital Clínic complete a 4-month rotation through the Heart Failure Unit. The Unit also receives Cardiology and Internal Medicine residents from other centres as part of their external rotations.
Fellowship in Heart Failure and Heart Transplantation
The Unit offers 6-12 month advanced training courses for Cardiology specialists aimed at acquiring advanced knowledge in the fields of heart failure and heart transplantation.
Patient Education
The Unit has a school for patients with heart failure or for those who have undergone transplantation: an annual patient day is held, a quarterly lecture series is organized for heart transplant patients, and a YouTube playlist is available where videos with educational content for patients and caregivers are posted.
Continuing Education
Unit holds an annual educational day on heart failure, and a second day specifically focused on cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome.
In addition, members of the Heart Failure Unit participate in courses, symposia, and meetings at congresses, locally, nationally and internationally.
