- What can I build?
-
During the hackathon, AI-based solutions can be developed to address challenges such as patient education, structuring clinical reports and health data analysis. You will be able to work with the AWS Bedrock platform to develop solutions.
- What is recommended if I want to participate as an engineer?
-
During the hackathon, you will have access to the AWS platform and the foundational models included in AWS Bedrock. For security reasons, you will need to work with the Jupyter Notebooks application included in the Sagemaker service. There will also be datasets for each challenge, consisting of real text documents in anonymous format and structured data. It is recommended to know Python and SQL, as well as understand the basic functioning of Large Language Models. Familiarity with the AWS platform is also recommended.
- What support and material will I have as an engineer during the hackathon?
-
Engineers will have notebooks with basic code examples to use AWS services through SDKs and APIs such as S3, Bedrock and knowledge bases. There will be technical support from the platform for queries and questions.
- What is recommended if I want to participate as an advisor in ethics and legal aspects?
-
Having a basic understanding of the new EU AI Law is one of the challenge requirements, as the solution must comply with the new law. It is also important to have a basic understanding of potential biases to guide engineers in exploring these in the developed solution.
- What should I bring?
-
- Bring your laptop, chargers, and any other tools you need to work with AI models.
- Non-engineer participants will also need their computer to work on the documentation that will need to be attached to present the solution, such as bias exploration and regulatory compliance.
- It's also a good idea to come with proposals or ideas on how to improve the healthcare challenges and be prepared to discuss aspects such as ethics and policies in the use of AI.
- What are the evaluation criteria?
-
Projects will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
1. Difficulty
2. Bias prevention and ethical considerations
3. Legal compliance guidelines
Solutions must comply with legal regulations and address potential biases that may arise.
- Are meals included?
-
Yes. Breakfast and lunch are included in the hackathon and there will be self-service drinks and snacks during the hackathon days.
- What if I have dietary restrictions?
-
We can accommodate your dietary needs. Just let us know in advance so we can adapt the meals.
- Is there a code of conduct?
-
Yes, we promote a respectful, inclusive and ethical environment for everyone. All participants must follow our code of conduct to ensure a positive experience.
- Who can attend?
-
The first day of conferences is open to all healthcare professionals interested in AI applied to health, engineers with interests in the health field and legal professionals interested in the legal aspects of implementing new technologies in health. Students, professionals, researchers and innovators from different fields can also attend.
To participate in the hackathon, you must register individually and you will be assigned a team to work on one of the proposed challenges. Teams will be multidisciplinary, including healthcare professionals, technical experts in generative AI, ethics specialists and legal advisors.
If you plan to participate with a pre-established team, make sure to cover the functional, technical and ethical-legal aspects of the challenges. In this case, the registration procedure is similar, but you must complete the team information section in the registration form.
- Do I have to be a student or doctor to participate?
-
No. The event is open to people from different fields, such as engineers, researchers, ethics experts and healthcare professionals.
- What if I don’t know how to program?
-
Solving the challenges will require validation, bias exploration and legal adaptation. Therefore, there will be plenty of work that does not require programming skills. Teams will include people with different skills, such as experience in health, ethics and technology. Not all challenges require programming, so you can also contribute in other areas.
- How can I join the hackathon?
-
Fill out the application to participate and highlight your interest in the different marked areas and your skills, whether technical or non-technical. Explain why you are interested in participating and, if you have relevant ideas or experience, feel free to include them in the comments.
- How does team registration work?
-
You can register individually or as a team. If you register with a team, you must include the information during the registration process. Teams must have a combination of technical, healthcare and ethical-legal knowledge.
- What if I can’t join my friend’s team?
-
If you can’t register with your friends’ team, contact the organizers and we’ll try to help you. You can also collaborate with them during the event.
- What is the maximum number of team members?
-
Teams can have between 6 and 7 members.
- Can I change teams during the hackathon?
-
It is not common to change teams, but if there are issues with skills or group dynamics, talk to the organizers to see if a change can be made.
- What if I have more questions?
-
For any other questions, you can contact the organizers at genaihealthhack@clinic.cat. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions during the event.
