  • Dr. Leo Anthony Celi Senior Research scientist - MIT Critical Data

    Dr. Leo Anthony Celi is the lead researcher behind the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC) project and its derivatives (MIMIC-CXR, MIMIC-ED, MIMIC-ECHO, and MIMIC-ECG). With nearly 100,000 users worldwide and over 10,000 publications on Google Scholar, his datasets have transformed the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare in the United States and internationally. His team has published three open-access books and created online courses in health informatics, with over 1.7 million downloads and translations into several languages. He has also led the organization of over 50 data-thons in 22 countries, collaborating with universities, hospitals, and professional societies to promote data usage in healthcare.

  • Dr. Xavi Borrat Head of Clinical Informatics Service - Hospital Clinic Barcelona

    Dr. Xavi Borrat has been a physician since 2002 and an anesthesiologist since 2006. In 2023, he became the head of the Clinical Informatics Service at Hospital Clínic in Barcelona, where he combines his clinical duties as an anesthesiologist with the development of predictive models in anesthesiology, AI, and big data in healthcare. He is also an associate professor of Bioengineering at the University of Barcelona and an affiliated researcher at MIT, where he participates in projects on AI equity, interoperability, and open medical data platforms.

    Manuel Torres Brabo es Manager de la práctica de Inteligencia Artificial en Avvale y responsable del laboratorio de IA Avvale-sAIborg. Con más de 25 años de experiencia, comenzó trabajando con redes neuronales tras finalizar sus estudios universitarios y desde entonces ha mantenido una profunda pasión por esta tecnología. A lo largo de su carrera ha desempeñado roles como desarrollador, diseñador de bases de datos, consultor tecnológico y gestor de equipos y servicios. Está especializado en inteligencia artificial y aprendizaje automático, con especial interés en los aspectos transformadores de estas tecnologías, su impacto en la sociedad, los retos éticos y prácticos que plantean y cómo garantizar un uso responsable. Desde hace seis años lidera el área de Inteligencia Artificial en Avvale, impulsando proyectos innovadores en IA, IA generativa y aplicaciones avanzadas. Actualmente participa en el proyecto europeo TOLIFE, orientado a mejorar la atención sanitaria de pacientes de EPOC mediante soluciones no intrusivas basadas en IA, contribuyendo a la integración de modelos en entornos clínicos para optimizar el seguimiento y los resultados

  • Araceli Camacho Digital Transformation Coordinator - Hospital Clínic

    Araceli Camacho is the Digital Transformation Coordinator at Hospital Clínic in Barcelona, where she leads various initiatives to integrate artificial intelligence into healthcare. An industrial engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, specializing in Industrial Organization and Operations Research, Araceli furthered her studies with an Executive Development Program (PDD) at IESE Business School and a specialization in Deep Learning and AI. Her career has been marked by leadership in multinational corporations, and she brings a global perspective and unique international experience, having worked with startups in the innovation ecosystem at MIT in the United States.

  • Julio Pastor Responsable de IA aplicada en Salud

    Julio Pastor Tronch es ingeniero biomédico con especialización en neurotecnología, big data y analítica. Ha desarrollado investigación avanzada en biosensales uterinos y en algoritmos de aprendizaje autosupervisado para la segmentación de imagen biomédica. Tras una etapa liderando el I+D en una empresa de oncología de precisión, se incorpora a NTT DATA en 2022, donde ejerce como Consulting Manager del departamento de Business Analytics en 2023. En 2025 es nombrado responsable de IA aplicada a la salud, dirigiendo iniciativas estratégicas y proyectos de investigación translacional con administraciones sanitarias y entidades asistenciales.

  • Manuel Armayones Full Professor in Behavioural Design at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC)

    Manuel Armayones Ruiz holds a PhD in Psychology and is a Full Professor in Behavioural Design at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). He leads the Behavioural Design Lab at the eHealth Center, researching persuasive technologies and behaviour change strategies for health promotion. He is also a member of the ePsychology Group of the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia (COPC), contributing to the advancement of digital psychology in health contexts. He has been recognised by HIMSS as one of the 50 European leaders in eHealth and by Forbes Spain as a top health influencer. Asociación de Salud Digital de España board member.

  • Xavier Martí i Renom

    Computer Engineer from UPC with a master’s degree in Business Creativity from ESADE. Since 2001, he has developed his professional career by leading innovation in various mid-sized companies. In 2015, he began his path as an entrepreneur, founding three companies. The most recent of them focuses on generating financial assets through Artificial Intelligence, and counts SIRT as an investor partner. He currently helps lead SIRT’s innovation efforts in the fields of data, cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence.

  • Manel Ramos-Casals Internist in the Autoimmune Diseases Service at Hospital Clínic Barcelona and Director of the Graduate Program in Generative AI in Research Methodology and Teaching at the University of Barcelona.

    Manel Ramos is the director of the Graduate Program in Applied Generative AI in Research Methodology and Teaching at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Barcelona. With a strong commitment to educational innovation, he is also a member of the Committee for New Teaching Tools and the Subcommittee on Generative AI at the faculty. In addition to his academic work, Manel is an internist in the Systemic Autoimmune Diseases Service at the Clinic Institute of Medicine and Dermatology at Hospital Clínic in Barcelona.

    Esteve Almirall is a Full Professor at Esade and Director of the Center for Innovation in Cities, known for bridging the gap between deep technical expertise and strategic management. He began his career as the youngest CTO in Spanish banking history, where he pioneered the nation's first online transaction systems before transitioning into a distinguished academic and advisory role. In addition to lecturing at prestigious institutions like UC Berkeley and EPFL, he founded Esade’s world-class Master in Business Analytics and has managed over €29M in research projects for organizations such as the World Bank and the European Commission. A prolific author and public speaker, Esteve is a leading authority on AI, Smart Cities, and the transformative impact of digital technologies on modern society.

  • Xabier Michelena Head of Clinical Informatics, Catalonia’s Digital Health Strategy, CatSalut.

    Dr. Xabier Michelena is a rheumatologist and clinical informatician who earned his PhD in 2023 through a joint program between the University of Barcelona and the University of Leeds, complemented by a Master's degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Alcalá. Following his clinical training in rheumatology, Dr. Michelena spent two years at the Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (LIRMM), where he combined clinical care for spondyloarthritis patients with epidemiological and advanced analytics research. This experience proved instrumental in developing his expertise in data science and coding. Upon returning to Barcelona, he joined Hospital Vall d'Hebron as an emergency physician and rheumatologist. He subsequently expanded his impact by transitioning to the hospital's IT Department as a healthcare IT consultant, leading digital health innovation and artificial intelligence initiatives. In 2024, Dr. Michelena was appointed Head of Clinical Informatics at CatSalut's Information Systems Division, where he actively contributes to shaping Catalonia's Digital Health Strategy. He has also recently joined OpenEHR's Specification Editorial Board and continues his research involvement with the DS3 (Digitalisation for the Sustainability of the Healthcare System) research group.

  • Miguel Ángel Armengol Fundación Progreso y Salud

    Miguel Ángel Armengol works at Fundación Progreso y Salud, a catalyst for R&D&I under the Andalusian Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs. Trained in telecommunications engineering and holding a PhD in biomedical engineering, he specializes in data analysis applied to solving medical questions. He has worked as a data scientist at MIT, in the Laboratory for Computational Physiology – Critical Data, and received a fellowship from Harvard Medical School, where he contributed to advanced analytics projects at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital. His expertise focuses on the creation and exploitation of collaborative clinical databases, mainly through machine learning and deep learning techniques. He has produced more than twenty contributions in the field of data science applied to medicine, promoting a philosophy of open and distributed collaboration. He has also participated in collaborative healthcare data science events across Asia, South America, North America, and Europe, fostering an open and collaborative scientific ecosystem.

  • Prof. Hyung-Chul Lee Associate Professor at Seoul National University College of Medicine

    Prof. Hyung-Chul Lee is an Associate Professor at Seoul National University College of Medicine and a faculty member of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at Seoul National University Hospital. With a background in electrical engineering and medicine, his work bridges clinical practice and healthcare AI. He serves as a Vice Director of the Healthcare AI Research Center and a Deputy Director of the Information Systems Office at SNUH, and leads the Data Innovation Center of a national strategic technology institute. His research focuses on medical AI, biosignal big data, and AI applications in anesthesia for obstetrics, surgery, and robotic procedures. He actively leads national R&D projects and international collaborations to translate real-world clinical data into scalable AI solutions for healthcare
