The Clinical Institute of Nephrology and Urology of the Hospital Clínic develops lines of experimental and clinical research in the fields of urology, kidney and pancreatic transplantation, clinical nephrology and dialysis.

The ICNU research groups focus on basic and translational research in the field of nephrology and urology, with an Experimental Nephrology and Transplantation Laboratory (LENIT) and a laboratory dedicated to basic and translational research in the field of urology, especially urological oncology. It also has several clinical research programmes.

The main lines of research are grouped as follows:
