Among others, a series of monthly talks is being promoted at the Casa Golferichs Civic Centre, in Barcelona. A science summer camp is also being run for children between primary years 5 and 6, and visits are being promoted so that patients and their families can learn about the research being done on their disease. Recently, for example, a visit was received from a delegation of the AFAlynch Association. Visits are also organised for the general public, such as those that show the research being carried out with the funds obtained through La Marató de TV3.
Within this context, for the next academic year, 2025-26, over seventy talks have been organised in educational centres. The talks, which are given by research staff or personnel from the IDIBAPS scientific platforms, are offered through Escolab. This initiative from Barcelona City Council puts hospitals, universities and research centres that organise outreach activities for students in contact with schools interested in participating in them.
The talks offered by IDIBAPS deal with a diverse range of topics: from the effects of cannabis on the brain or cell therapy to fatty liver, allergies, HIV, obesity, biomarkers for detecting melanoma and the study of mental disorders. You can see the details by clicking here.
