Research - Anaesthesia Department Service
The Department of Anesthesiology at Hospital Clínic is one of the most research-active departments in the country, and many of its professionals are among the leading contributors to scientific publications in Anesthesiology.
One of the Department’s objectives is to consolidate research as a fundamental part of its activity, to disseminate its output and resources, and to support members interested in research.
Part of the research is carried out through different research groups of the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS).
There are also several established research lines within the Department of Anesthesiology, which include:
- Coagulation and liver disease
- CPR and hypothermia
- Modeling and Control of Pharmacological Effects in Anesthesia (Systems Pharmacology Effect Control & Modeling – SPEC-M)
- Mechanisms and treatment of chronic pain
- Airway management and new devices
- Prehabilitation and advances in anesthesia for gastrointestinal and liver surgery
- Effects of obesity on respiratory function in the perioperative context
- Regional anesthesia and effects on peripheral nerves
Research is also carried out within the Consolidated Research Group (GRC) of the Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR, 2017–2019, File No. 2017 SGR 1704).
