Organization - Plastic Surgery Service

The Plastic Surgery Department at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona is made up of professionals in reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery. This Department works in coordination with the Breast Cancer Unit. It also collaborates with other departments at the hospital, such as traumatology and orthopaedic surgery, otorhinolaryngology, dermatology, general and digestive surgery, etc.

The main activity of Plastic Surgery is breast reconstruction, followed by the repair of defects in various parts of the body (whether due to neoplasia, trauma, congenital conditions, etc.). It also performs surgical procedures for the sequelae of morbid obesity, treatment of lymphoedema, skin cancer, etc. It has very specific areas, such as sex reassignment surgery, which the Hospital Clínic was the first public centre in Catalonia to perform.
