Altitude sickness prognosis
Reading time: 1 min
In the majority of cases, the symptoms are temporary and improve with acclimatisation, descent or medical treatment.
The most serious consequences of altitude sickness are high-altitude pulmonary oedema and high-altitude cerebral oedema. In these cases, the result may be fatal if the person does not quickly descend to lower altitudes and seek medical attention.
