Atrial Fibrillation at the Clínic

Reading time: 1 min

Atrial fibrillation is managed through research, training and ongoing development of its healthcare professionals at the Hospital Clínic Barcelona.

Atrial fibrillation is one of the most common arrhythmias encountered in a healthcare setting. The Atrial Fibrillation Unit (UFA) brings together professionals from different specialities at the hospital, including neurology, haematology, cardiology and primary care. This structure provides better communication and streamlines care processes.

The arrhythmia section performs more than 130 atrial fibrillation ablations each year and sees more than 100 people each month in a dedicated consultation for this arrhythmia.

The Cardiac Surgery Department also performs surgical ablations for both patients undergoing surgery for other cardiac conditions as well as those undergoing this procedure alone.

The care process for people with atrial fibrillation at the Hospital Clínic Barcelona has received SEC-EXCELENTE accreditation, awarded by the Spanish Society of Cardiology to centres that meet high standards of quality of care and certification.
