Research lines of Autoimmune Hepatitis

Reading time: 1 min

Although AIH is considered a rare disease, there is a significant amount of scientific research aimed at improving understanding of how it occurs and to develop more effective and safer therapeutic agents.

The European Reference Network on Rare Liver Diseases (ERN RARE-LIVER) and the International Autoimmune Hepatitis Group are composed of healthcare professionals, scientists and researchers dedicated both to clinical and scientific AIH research and to the day-to-day management of patients in clinical practice.

These organisations play a crucial role in advancing knowledge about AIH by facilitating collaboration among experts from different disciplines and countries. Their efforts focus not only on better understanding of the disease mechanisms, but also on optimising and personalising treatments, improving clinical guidelines and providing comprehensive support to patients and their families.

Through their initiatives, these networks aim to improve diagnosis, treatment and ultimately the quality of life of people affected by AIH.
