Prognosis of Retinal Detachment

Reading time: 1 min

It must be remembered that retinal detachment compromises vision to a greater or lesser extent, with visual acuity not being fully recovered in most cases. This is a serious eye condition, and vision rarely returns to how it was previously, despite medical advances

If the retina detaches again after the gas has been absorbed, further surgery will be necessary. Additionally, visual prognosis may worsen with each repeat operation, making the recovery process more uncertain.
