Symptoms of Retinal Detachment

Reading time: 1 min

The retina's main function is to detect light and send signals to the brain for vision. So if it becomes detached, the warning symptoms are:

Halos in vision

Flashes of light (photopsia).

Floating bodies in the eye, flies

Appearance of floaters, dots, lines or ‘cobwebs’ in the field of vision (myodesopsia).

Eye with reduced visual field

A shadow or grey ‘curtain’ in peripheral vision that covers part of the visual field.
