The Angiology, Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Department participates in various teaching activities for students and professionals:
Undergraduate and postgraduate
Several professionals from the Department teach classes in the Medicine degree programme at the University of Barcelona. In addition, the Department collaborates in the practical training of students through various rotations in the Department, where they become familiar with the most important aspects of the specialty.
MIR (specialist resident) training
The Department has been recognized as a Teaching Unit since 2021, training MIR (specialist resident) doctors in the specialty of Angiology, Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (one each year during five years of training). During this training, MIR doctors form part of the team, participating directly in healthcare, surgical and training activities, supervised at all times by specialists attached to the department.
Master's degrees
Various professionals from the Department teach classes in several Master's degree courses at the University of Barcelona, such as the Master's Degree in Advanced Medical Skills (Endoluminal Vascular and Cardiac Treatments) and the Master's Degree in Postoperative Cardiovascular Care.
In addition, the Department has had an International Programme for Advanced Training in Endovascular Techniques for more than 20 years, which has been attended by hundreds of vascular surgery specialists from Spain and abroad.
Continuing education
The Department directs and organizes the Site Symposium (International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy), which is held annually and focuses on innovation applied to endovascular techniques (www.sitesymposium.com). It is considered one of the most prestigious and internationally recognized conferences in the field in Spain.
Numerous guest lectures are also given at both national and international conferences, especially in the fields of endovascular surgery of the aorta and vascular access. Members of the Department are also frequently invited to teach on training courses for residents and young specialists at the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS Academy) and in the Catalan and Spanish societies.
