The Endocrinology and Nutrition Service is part of the Clinical Institute of Digestive and Metabolic Diseases. It is dedicated to the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of the main endocrinological diseases. This Service offers high-quality, decisive and efficient assistance focused on people with endocrinological diseases. It also has a teaching and research program that makes it a point of reference at the national and international level.

The healthcare professionals of the Service work in a coordinated manner with other Institute professionals to offer the best possible care to the patients of each specialty.
Since January 2012, people with diabetes and their care processes have been coordinated from the Diabetes Unit. Their status as a local hospital and the responsibility for specialized care in the reference area (Barcelona Izquierda) mean that the Service is jointly coordinated with the healthcare professionals of the Primary Care Centers of the Integral Health Area Barcelona Left (ASIBE).

Know the team
The group of healthcare professionals who integrate with and work in the Service is made up of doctors specializing in Endocrinology and Nutrition, university graduates in nursing (DUI) and dietetics and administrative staff. They all work directly or indirectly in five areas: Diabetes, Endocrinology, Lipids/Cardiovascular Risk, Nutrition and Obesity.
The medical team is joined by eight MIR doctors and, in certain years, specialist doctors who benefit from a three-year Josep Font Grant or an Emili Letang Award for Research in Biomedicine.
