Research - Hemotherapy and Hemostasis Service

The research activity is carried out mainly through the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS) in the area of Oncology and Hematology. Specifically through the group:

This service centers around its own basic, experimental and clinical research projects. It also collaborates on the projects of other services, contributing knowledge, infrastructure and human resources for their design, development and execution.

The Hemotherapy and Hemostasis Service is a leader and reference point with the capacity to innovate and develop both nationally and internationally. This is demonstrated, among other things, by the consolidated existence of several cutting-edge lines of research capable of generating external funding.

The main lines of research of the Service are:

  • Participation in in vitro studies and in clinical trials of direct-acting anticoagulants and their reversal agents.
  • Clinical and basic studies in the management and pathogenesis of thrombosis in myeloproliferative neoplasms.
  • Epidemiological and experimental studies in hemorrhagic diathesis.
  • Clinical and experimental studies in antiphospholipid syndrome.
  • Clinical and experimental studies in thrombophilia.
  • Studies of hemostasis in atypical thrombosis in splanchnic territory.
  • Studies of hemostasis in obstetric and gynecological diseases.
  • Thrombosis and hemorrhages in cancer and malignant haematological diseases.
  • Ischemic stroke and hemostasis.
  • Studies on hemostasis in fertility and assisted reproduction.
  • Study of hemostasis in ischemic stroke.
  • Evaluation of the treatment of microangiopathies.
  • Study and treatment of rare hemoglobinopathies.
