How is hantavirus infection diagnosed?

Diagnosis can be challenging in the early stages, as symptoms resemble those of other viral infections. It is based on:

Person in bed with symptoms of Parkinson's due to reduction of medication

Clinical symptoms.

A history of exposure to rodents or to endemic areas.

Syringe to perform serological testing and determine analytical parameters

Laboratory tests: the main tests used are PCR, which detects viral genetic material, and serology, to identify specific antibodies in the blood.

In patients with respiratory involvement, chest X‑rays or CT scans may be performed to assess lung involvement.
