The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit (IBD) at the Hospital Clínic monitors around 2,500 patients, with around 150 new cases every year.  

It is a pioneering unit with a high degree of experience in the following procedures:  

  • Imaging techniques, mainly magnetic resonance, for the diagnosis and monitoring of Crohn's disease.  

  • Cell therapy.  

  • Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, for the treatment of severe refractory Crohn’s disease (a reference centre recognised by the Catalan transplant organisation, OCATT).  

  • Mesenchymal stem cells, for the treatment of perianal fistulas.
