Refractives erros Research at the Clínic

Reading time: 1 min

Currently, professionals at the Clínic are participating in a multicenter clinical trial on molecular biomarkers for the diagnosis and monitoring of Keratoconus.

Keratoconus is a corneal disease characterized by the rapid onset of refractive errors for which laser surgery is contraindicated, as it can cause irreversible vision loss. Molecular biomarkers, analyzed using a simple tear cytology sample, would allow for early diagnosis of this disease, enabling prevention of the harmful effects of laser surgery for the correction of refractive errors.
