Institute of Ophthalmology
ICOF strives to deliver the highest standards of excellence in clinical care, research and teaching for the treatment of these diseases.
Human and technological resources for the diagnosis of various eye diseases are key to delivering the highest standard of care. The Institute has 27 consultation rooms where professionals from different disciplines collaborate and work in a coordinated manner:
- Ophthalmology
- Optometry
- Nursing
- Administration
In the coming months, the Institute will open a new surgical unit equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including surgical platforms, microscopes and laser equipment.
The teaching commitment of ICOF’s professionals stems in part from their links as lecturers with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Barcelona and their involvement in the Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and in Master’s degree programmes. ICOF is one of the leading centres in the MIR programme (medical residency), training ophthalmology specialists across the whole of Spain. It also runs a continuing training programme featuring various clinical sessions where professionals update and share their knowledge.
Research at the Clínic Institute of Ophthalmology is carried out in collaboration with recognized research groups at IDIBAPS. It also participates in various research networks and numerous clinical trials.
