Organization

The Medical Director of the Clínic Barcelona is elected by the Faculty Board for the following missions:

a) To ensure, in coordination with the Nursing Director and the Quality and Clinical Safety Director, the highest quality and safety in healthcare, striving to achieve the highest levels of excellence, and adhering to established legal and ethical principles.

b) To facilitate cross-functionality and strengthen synergies among the various organisational structures and healthcare resources at Clínic Barcelona. The Emergency Area, the Surgical Area, the Pharmacy Area, as well as the Section for Donation and Coordination of Transplants, Patient Experience and the Hospital-at-Home program report directly to the Medical Director.

c) To promote the professional development of medical staff at the hospital in the fields of healthcare, teaching, continuous education, research and innovation, as well as to attract and retain talent within the medical profession. The fulfilment of these functions is supported by the Education Director and the Research and Innovation Director.

d) To lead the deployment and consolidation of Units, Working Groups and Clínic Programmes, as well as various clinical commissions and committees within the hospital.

Among other functions, the Medical Director holds the Presidency of the Faculty Board, being responsible for promoting the participation of the faculty members in decision-making related to healthcare, teaching, research and innovation, quality, and clinical safety.

The values of the Medical Director combine the common values of Clínic Barcelona: trust, gratitude and generosity with personal values of honesty and pursuit of excellence.
