Research at the CORE Molecular Biology Operational Area has the primary goal of generating knowledge in the fields of diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment across different disciplines. Due to the cross-disciplinary nature of the laboratory and its staff, the research lines are varied, yet they all share a strong innovative focus oriented toward translational medicine. Research is conducted at the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS), and some of the physicians are affiliated researchers at the Biomedical Research Networking Center (CIBER) of the Carlos III Health Institute.
