Diagnosis of Chronic Urticaria

In some cases, blood tests are performed to identify autoimmune or infectious causes.
If lesions are atypical or the diagnosis is uncertain, a skin biopsy or specific tests such as the autologous serum test may be indicated to detect autoimmune forms of the disease.
The diagnosis of chronic urticaria is clinical, based on the patient's medical history and physical examination. A detailed interview is essential to find possible triggers and assess how symptoms progress and impact on daily life.
