Recommendations to promote Positive Mental Health Habits

Fortunately, we can make lifestyle choices and cultivate habits that encourage good mental health. These include:

Exercise at least 30 minutes of exercise a day will improve physical and mental health.

A regular sleep schedule and enough hours of sleep teenagers in particular need at least 8 or 9 hours a day.

A healthy, balanced diet.

Avoid drugs that affect brain development (including tobacco and caffeine).

Having a stable family environment which meets our need for affection.

Building healthy social relationships and friendships. Sharing experiences and cultivating reciprocal relationships of mutual support with friends and colleagues helps to improve emotional wellbeing.

Prolonged work-related stress and anxiety

Organising our time to avoid unnecessary stress: allowing enough time for study, getting work done on time, and keeping to a regular schedule for different activities.
